It’s already August. Phew, what a hot past couple of weeks. We hope you had some cold, crispy bois to beat the heat. We had a great July filled with fun events such as Drafts and Crafts, Other Half/Paste n Rind’s Beer and Cheese Pairing, and of course our monthly beer share. Huge shout out to our newest Patreon members and the new, smiling faces who showed up at Right Proper. Let’s keep up the momentum by making August even better.

Sat, August 10 –  Womxn’s Brew Culture Club Heads to Lyon Hall

After taking July off, the WBCC is BACK and we are heading to Lyon Hall. Our fabulous friend and beer/beverage director, Alyssa will be our host and industry icon for a fun outing in NoVa. We’ll taste through a few hand-picked beers and pair them with some of Lyon Hall’s perfect small bites to recreate a mini version one of Alyssa’s famous Beer Dinners. (oh, and she’s giving our group happy hour pricing…thanks A!) She has requested that we bring in a period/feminine products to donate to the DC Diaper Bank! Let’s do some good while we drink the good stuff.

Sun, August 11 - DC Beer Share Pops Bottles at Denizens

Yes, we have two events in the same weekend, but sometimes it just works out that way. We know it is a lot to ask, but we would love to see you at both events.
We hope you’ll join us for our monthly beer share, and this time we are back at Denizens. Please RSVP. Please do not bring in outside food to this event, as we will have the priviledge of cramming Catalyst Hot Dogs in our mouths while we are there. Make sure you read the share rules before committing to join, we pride ourselves with having the most inclusive, polite and well-mannered beer nerds around, so let’s keep that up.

Wed, August 21 – DC Beer Trivia Night at Other Half

Jordan (@BeersAroundTheWay) and Other Half are transforming their weekly trivia night into DC Beer-themed trivia once a month, so show up, drink some yummy beer, and be an active part of the beer community!

Aug 1 - UPHOLDING TRADITION: BIERSTADT LAGERHAUS! Shelter will once again feature our friends from Bierstadt Lagerhaus. On this night, we will pour 4 traditional German-style drafts from this renowned brewery from Denver, Colorado!

Aug 8 - A TASTE OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WITH FAIR ISLE BREWING! Thursday, August 8th, The Sovereign will feature 8 draft beers from Fair Isle Brewing, a renowned brewery from Seattle, Washington!

Aug 10 - Going to Barrel and Flow? Be sure to say hi to our very own Jordan and friend of the site Amber. Maybe they’ll even collaborate on an article about the festival, so make sure you’re checking out DC BEER. Joyhound, Liquid Intrusion, and Soul Mega will be representing the DMV at the fest! 

Aug 17 - Port to Port Beer Festival- Join us at Port City Brewing Company for our inaugural Port to Port Beer Festival! Breweries from ports near and far are joining us to showcase their best brews on August 17th from 12-3pm. With breweries from all over the country, you’re going to want to try everything!

Aug 24 - Help Dynasty celebrate thier 6th anniversary with special beer releases including one with Ocelot, great food and live music all day. Admission is free, with ticketed wings and beer specials – 6 hot wings and 6 (5oz) beer pours for $40. 6th Anniversary hot wing and beer special: Challenge yourself with six hot wings of varying heat and six – (5oz) beer pours. Wings include a Dynasty Fastbender beer sauce, and our 6th anniversary IPA is included in the beer pour.

Podcasts: Tune in this month for special interviews and fun podcast episodes featuring Kimberly Totten, Collections Manager at the Heurich House Museum and Peter Jones, owner and founder of Lost Lagers, join us because Maerzen is Back! Get tickets to the tasting event on 8/9 featuring our very own Michael Stein–who, together with Jones–are Lost Lagers, DC’s premier beverage research firm. Later in August we’ll have Jailbreak Brewing Company’s executive chef/partner Janny Kim and lead brewer Rob Fink join us for an incredible show. Kim and Fink were so kind in hosting our very own Brandy, Jake, and Jordan and we can’t wait to share the exciting audio with you!
