DC Beer Newsletter - April 2026
Spring is springing and we're drinking!

To quote the 16th Century poet Thomas Tusser, “Sweet April showers/ Do spring May flowers,” and the 469-year old publishing of his work reminds us that upon us all, a little rain must fall.
But like the drying up and the sun coming out, we rejoice in what will surely be exciting events ahead. We’re looking forward to Friday’s home opener of the Washington Nationals’ 2026 season. As the Nats’ headed to the city of brotherly love earlier this week, we too will be at the Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia from April 20-22. Are you also going to be there? Drop us a line: [email protected].

The Genetically Unapologetic Shirt Fundraiser for Jasmine is still going, so grab a shirt and support!… and support Black-owned breweries all month, and all year, long.

Speaking of beers, you can buy our collaboration beer with Bluejacket, Common People Kentucky-style Common, at better beer stores in Virginia, and maybe DC, right now!
Articles:
What are we reading? Mike and Jake have some DMV brew news. (Be patient with us, the DCBeer.com site is undergoing some maintenance.)
It’s been exciting to know Right Proper was planning on moving into the former Brookland Pint space for months, but the news is finally out in the world and we are JAZZED! It seems Right Proper is officially taking over Northeast DC, Brookland specifically.
A milestone indeed, DC Brau turns 15! There is going to be a big ol’ celebration and even Churchkey is throwing them a tap takeover party. We cannot wait to taste the Baby Wings. Check out the full write up by Jake and let’s get ready to raise a glass to DC’s first brewery (post prohibition) to make it to 15 years!
Lovely loved New Zealand native Matt Cronin had a series of going away parties in March, from the industry filled, star studded farewell gathering featuring a very punny cake at Lost Generation to the official goodbye at Third Hill where he will be greatly missed. Matt is handing down all the brewing to owner Jason Sliter, as he and the family relocate to Australia. (hey Matt, take us with you, this country is whack as hell).
Selling beer in chain retailers is weird right now, Mike Stein reports.
