Happy Fe-BREW-ary! Winter is in full swing and the month is packed with a slew of events to get you through the cold. Between Black History Month events, Port City’s anniversary, and Denizen’s 6th Annual Winter Cask Classic, February provides a wonderful slate of events. End your Dry January or continue your support of local businesses by attending these events or just popping in for a pint of your favorite local spot’s winter offerings around the DMV.

This month’s WOMXN’s BREW CULTURE CLUB meet and greet gathering will be headed up to Baltimore to check out Mystique Brewing. Looking for some DC Beer weekday action? Plan to be at Other Half Brewing with Jordan (@beersaroundtheway) for trivia on February 19th! He hosts the Other Half show regularly and will be hosting an awesome trivia night with discounts for DC Beer Patreon members.

DC Beer Events Spotlight

Saturday, Feb 1st. 1-3pm: Womxn’s Brew Culture Club does Baltimore at Mystique Brewing 

We are excited to be back in Baltimore in February and even more excited to have one of our founding WBCC members hosting us! We’ll train or drive up to Charm City to see our friend Amber, as she guides us through the city’s newest brewery, and the beers it has to offer. We hope you can join us, and of course, we’d love to see some new MD faces that day. Let’s celebrate and support women in beer!

Saturday, Feb 8th. 2-5pm: Cheers & Beer: Black Brewers Tasting Party

Join metrobar and the teams at Black Brew Movement and DC Beer for a celebration of beers from Black brewers of the DMV! Your tickets get you access to an afternoon tasting, a commemorative Black Brew Movement tasting glass, pours of each of the dozen beers, and discussion with the brewers, Black Brew Movement, and DC Beer teams. The event features two available time slots (2pm and 3:30pm), and will take place at metrobar inside the 125-seat heated railcar bar & lounge. The 2025 beer tasting list will be released soon, and a portion of proceeds benefit The Harvey-Wilder Foundation!

On Feb. 14 Mieza will be releasing The Last Kazoo (8.9% TA: 15.5g/L) a barrel-aged dark sour with Second Use Tannat Grapes, Black Currant, and Cacao Nibs.

Sat. Feb 1. 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM: PORT CITY 14th ANNIVERSARY Come celebrate 14 awesome years with Port City Brewing Company on Saturday, February 1st! They’re throwing a big party with live music, new beer releases, and all-around good vibes.

Sat. Feb 15.  Atlas Brewing Precious One Re-release day. Vendor Market, Plant Class, and More at Ivy City Brewery & Tap Room - all day. Guests are invited to enjoy an array of events at Atlas Ivy City on Saturday, February 15. Enjoy a Cultivate the City Carnivorous Plant Class starting at 2pm with tarot card readings from the Magik Aunties kicking off at 3pm. Still looking for a Valentine’s weekend gift? Peruse a special loved-theme vendor market starting at 2pm and browse different items for purchase. Atlas Brew Works will celebrate its popular seasonal release, The Precious One, this February. The apricot-infused IPA will be available in all three taprooms and throughout the market on Saturday, February 1. The solar-powered brewery will celebrate with events at its Alexandria Brewery & Tap Room, Navy Yard Brewery & Tap Room, and Ivy City Brewery & Tap Room on Saturday, February 15. With a 6.4% ABV, take a sip of The Precious One and let the apricot notes blossom atop a hoppy base for a delicately sweet bouquet of flavor.

Sat. Feb 15. THE ROOST: Thank You for Smoking: A Dovetail & Friends Rauchbier Feature! Featuring eight different smoked beers on draft, smoked food specials from Hi/Fi Tex-Mex BBQ, and offer the option to have your beer caramelized with our own bierstacheln, a.k.a. the “beer poker.” “Our friends at Dovetail in Chicago, Illinois, have been brewing their Rauchbier since they opened in 2016. To emphasize this focus, they’ve held a taproom “festival” every year called “Thank You For Smoking,” where they pour a number of their smoked beers. This year, they decided to take the “festival” nationwide and send a limited number of Rauchbier kegs to bars around the country. We’re honored to be one of these select locations.There is no admission fee for this event. All featured beers will be available a la carte. Check out the smoked beer list.

Sat. Feb 22  1:00 PM: DENIZENS Winter Cask Classic 2025 The 6th Annual Winter Cask Classic is back on Saturday, February 22 from 1-5 pm. Come enjoy delicious cask beer from some of your favorite local MD, DC, and VA breweries. $40 gets you in the door, plus a souvenir glass, and unlimited cask beer.  You can buy tickets in advance or at the door. Food and other drinks will be available for purchase. It wouldn't be a Winter Classic without some hockey, so there will also be a (friendly) shoot-out competition in the brewery. Participating Breweries: Denizens, Atlas, Brewer's Art, Manor Hill, Maryland Meadworks, Pub Dog, Port City, Franklin's, Streetcar 82, City State, DC Brau, Right Proper, and Upweller Beer Company!

Beer of the Month at The Brew Shop in Arlington: Precarious Beer Project’s Kung Fu Kittens hazy IPA! You’ve got a few more days to stock up on January’s Beer of the Month, Sojourn Fermentory’s Midnight Dark Lager. After that we’re turning the calendar to February and it’s getting hazy in here, y’all! DC Beer members get 10% off this beer!
