Happy JulyPA, everyone! It’s hot out, and a lot of the DMV has headed to vacationland, but the World Cup and its beer deals are still going strong. You’ve got a few more weeks to help us drain City-State Public House dry as their chapter comes to a close on July 25th, 2026. America turns 250 years old this month and to celebrate Snallygaster tickets go on sale on July 7th!

Michael Stein recently brewed a beer called “Common Country,” available at Dynasty in Leesburg, and Chilly Hollow in Berryville. We’re trying to get at least a keg to DC, stay tuned! The beer commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and was brewed with inspiration found in an 18th Century book in Martha Washington’s collection. Locally, readers are encouraged to try Declaration, a Helles lager from DC Brau, which celebrates both the country’s 250th and the brewery’s 15th anniversary, and Fairfax County has more than a few celebratory beers as well.

It’s the perfect chance to hang out, try some special, rare beers, and chat with fellow beer nerd and nerdettes. Whether you’re a craft beer newbie or a seasoned sipper, this event’s all about good vibes and great drinks.

Wednesday, July 22nd. 6-8pm - SPRK Trivia x DC Beer @ Other Half Brewing, Ivy City - Come party with Jordan, listen to good music, enjoy some hazies, and play trivia. It’s seriously fun, but not too serious.

Tuesday July 28th. 6:30pm: WBCC Mahjong Night at Lucky Danger. Join Womxn's Brew Culture Club for a private Chinese mahjong lesson. Class starts at 7pm but join us at the bar prior for drinks and dumplings! Ticket price includes 2 hours of instruction and coached play, 1 drink, and a few light bites before the lesson.
