DC Beer Newsletter - September 2025
How about this weather, huh? May the Oktoberfest parties begin! (Warning: there are a lot.)

We’ve made it to September, with beautiful fall-like weather (at least for now) despite DC’s current military occupation causing usually busy breweries and restaurants to look a little too quiet. We keep pushing forward and finding happiness in our friends, frothy, foamy Lukr pours, and rooftop beers. There’s been some “juicy” beer gossip (yes, that is a play on words), and more changes on the horizon—we haven’t forgotten about that merger announcement. Before we get into the rest of the newsletter, let’s all raise a big glass of local lager to our very own “Papa Beer” Richard this month!
#DOITFORJASMINE - Buy a shirt! We are celebrating the amazingness that is Jasmine Dill and doing what we can to ease medical costs and compensate for lost time better spent brewing and selling during Jasmine's treatment and recovery. DC Beer; The Womxn's Brew Culture Club; and all of Jasmine's friends, family, and the local beer community are strongly encouraged to wear your Genetically Unapologetic shirts to Snallygaster to show support. "Genetically Unapologetic because LIBCO’s co-founder and brewer Jasmine Dill has been experiencing headache and blurred vision, which turns out to be Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome (VHL), a rare hereditary condition that causes tumors and cysts throughout the body. “This beer honors Jasmine’s personal journey, the pain, the misdiagnosis, the resilience, and the rare truth of it all,” co-founder and co-owner Andrew Dill told us. ‘It will be released some time after Jasmine’s scheduled surgeries in the DMV market, and we invite you to taste it, share it, and understand what it stands for. Until then, supporting us through your favorite LIBCO flagship liquid or merch means the world.’ Jasmine is in treatment, so you might not see the twin shirted duo of Dills around as much as normal this fall. LIBCO isn’t slowing down on brewing, however, and they’re raising capital for a taproom and production facility in Prince George’s County, which would be the first Black-owned brand with that distinction in the county. Look for cans of Genetically Unapologetic in DC and Maryland soon. They’ve also partnered with The Wine Concierge to ship their beers nationwide. More information at their website, and watch their social media, too."

Sunday, September 21: September Beer Share Hosted by Owen’s Tavern & Garden - Come join us for our monthly beer share at Owen’s Tavern & Garden. We wanted to give our Rockville/Bethesda/MD folks a closer beer share since they usually travel into DC for our monthly event. Owen’s is another NRG spot that we haven’t visited as a group. Let’s show MD how we do our beer shares! Come through and enjoy good food, share some beers and make some new memories/friends. Please RSVP so we know how many to expect/give Owen’s a heads up on head count.

Womxn’s Brew Culture Club shows support at Wunder Garten for an afternoon of drinking local brews for a cause. Sunday, Sept. 28, 12-6pm - Welcome to the DC Rape Crisis Center Brew for a Purpose Fundraiser at Wunder Garten! Join us for an afternoon of great beer, good company, and supporting a vital cause. Your attendance helps provide essential services to survivors of sexual violence. Wunder Garten and DC Beer are going all out to welcome the DC Rape Crisis Center and guests to a fun filled time supported by local breweries, restaurants, NoMa Bid, the neighborhood and many more. Every beer purchased and every person dunked in the water tank helps to raise money for the DCRCC. More information to come, but mark your calendar for an amazing day filled with support and positivity. Let's come together to make a difference and raise awareness. The Womxn's Brew Culture Club will be there in full support, so come, drink, eat, meet and greet friends, allies, survivors and advocates. See you there!
