Late Summer Sips & September Smiles

Prost! DC Beer Fam, Happy September! As we enter the dog days of summer, and Starbucks starts their infamous pumpkin spice latte (PSL) season, the beer community is ramping up and launching Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beer season. It’s not fall just yet, so we are hoping you all stay cool and enjoy some of the delicious Marzen-, Kolsch-, or Vienna-style lagers being released around the DMV.

With all the Oktoberfest events going on and the happenings of late summer, early fall, this month’s WOMXN’s BREW CULTURE CLUB meet and greet gathering will be headed back to Other Half Brewing for some weekday shenanigans. This weekday outing will be our first ever Trivia night with Jordan (@beersaroundtheway)! He hosts the Other Half show regularly and will be hosting an awesome trivia night with a special DC Beer round devoted to women in the beer and beverage industry. 

We hope to see you all at our September beer share at City-State Brewing! Please be sure to RSVP and let us know if you and friends are attending. 

Lastly, shoutout to all you Virgos and Libras! If you see Richard (Papa Beer) out and about around DC this month, give him a birthday cheers or buy him a round, he definitely deserves it. Happy Beerthday Richard!!

Sat. September 8 –  DC Beer September Beer Share at City State

Join us for a fun afternoon of sharing and tasting delicious craft beers with fellow beer enthusiasts. The event will take place on Sunday, September 8th, 2024 at City-State Brewing Co. starting at 2:00 PM.

This is going to be the most EPIC beer share to date….why? Because we are teaming up with the publicity team for Lionsgate Films in the DC Area to extend the promotional reach for their new film. There will be movie swag and giveaways, inlucluding tickets to see the film for DC Beer members. The Killers Game is a new action comedy featuring Dave Bautista, Sofia Boutella, Terry Crews, and Scott Adkins, with Pom Klementieff, and Ben Kingsley. Keep your eyes peeled for more details. DC Beer members are automatically guarenteed a spot, so make sure you snag your ticket before you miss out.

Wed. September 25– Womxn’s Brew Culture Club Happy Hour at Other Half

Join us for a fun evening at Womxn's Brew Culture Club Happy Hour & Trivia! Test your knowledge with exciting trivia questions while enjoying delicious brews in a fun, inviting and inclusive atmosphere. Meet new friends who share your passion for craft beer and celebrate the Womxn's Brew Culture together. Don't miss out on this awesome event! Open to all women and non-binary folx interested in creating an inclusive drinking and learning community. 

Wed. September 25 – DC Beer Trivia Night

Join Capital Trivia at Other Half every Wednesday @ 6:30pm for various rounds of a fun and engaging trivia experience! Capital Trivia is played through a teammate’s mobile device. No more paper, no more pencils. No more getting up to hand in an answer sheet. No more waiting for a quizmaster to sort through and grade papers. Everything is automated and fast paced. Instant gratification (or disappointment).

Sat. September 7th: ChurchKey is excited to host a day of traditional German Kölsch service! They’ll be offering Dovetail Kölsch the old fashioned way: through round after round of 20 cl (6.8 oz.) glasses until you tell ‘em to stop!  

Thurs. September 12th: The Sovereign will yet again host a stop on Lambiek Fabriek’s No Brett No Glory Tour! Don’t miss your chance to try this special lineup of draft beers — including the highly-sought after Organic Geuze Natur-Elle 2023, and Young & Wild Fontan-Elle 2022, a blend of young and vintage lambic.

Sat. September 14th: Port City’s Fall Makers’ Market: 30 vendors, food, craft beer, music, prizes — spend a beautiful early fall day with Made in ALX at Port City Brewing!

Thurs. September 19th: The Sovereign will feature a special allotment of wild beers from Dovetail Brewery’s spontaneous ales program! They’ll pour a total of 7 Belgian-inspired sour beers from this renowned brewery from Chicago, Illinois!

Sat. September 21st: Join Port City Brewing Co. as they host their annual festival celebrating all things German, especially the beers! Wunderfest is a fun-filled day of live music, yard games, food trucks, and competitions with prizes up for grabs. With the purchase of a Wunderfest stein, you will receive your first beer for $1.

Sun. September 22nd: 5th Annual Oktoberfest at Silver Branch Lagerhaus & Biergarten in Silver Spring with live music, brats fresh from the grill, the return of our Oktoberfest fashion and stein hoisting contests, and, of course, beer! So come on down and let’s raise a glass together.

Tues. September 24nd: BATTLE OF THE BARREL AGED BEERS at Boundary Stone!! It’s BAACCK! One of our all time favorite events is back again, and obviously we cannot wait! More deets coming soon, but for now go ahead and save the date.

Sat. September 28th: Aslin’s 9th Anniversary. They’re marking the 9th year of making beer with an all day festival celebrating the three things they love most: great beer, great music and great art. Tickets on sale.
